Women of Australia vs dangerous dinosaurs
Despite the shortage of experienced directors, the 'boys' club' is perpetuating the exclusion of women from those roles, and these same people - the boys' clubs heading up big business - are having a big influence on whether or not paid parental leave will become the norm in Australia.
This ongoing battle between Australian women and the dangerous dinosaurs (those powerful men identified in the just released EOWA report who live in the dark ages) won't stop until it has been won.
I agree with the Women on Boards media release on EOWA's report, which says - this narrow and prescriptive thinking that prevails at the top echelons of our global financial system is dragging down some of our major institutions.
No wonder the economy is stuffed! Look who is in charge. These dangerous dinosaurs (aka as social conservatives) believe that the world hasn't changed since they were young.
On a slight digression - it reminds me of John Howard's answer to the question, some time ago, of which religion he belongs to - he said Methodist.
Der. Didn't the Methodist church disappear in the 1970s? Maybe to everyone else, but not in little Johnny's mind.
And like little Johnny, these blokes honestly don't seem to want to know that there are really really good women in the workforce.
In their minds, the workforce is populated only by men. Just like it was in the 1970s.
It just makes me so cross.
On top of that, the dangerous dinosaurs behave as if the men in the workforce are setting a standard of perfection that women must be tested against.
Get real.
And now we have the male side of government coming out and saying that paid parental leave is too expensive just now. Let's give all our money to car manufacturers instead.
Women in Australia need to speak out more. In The Art of War by Sun Tzu, we are told that winning requires quick and appropriate responses to changing conditions. Send your views to the Prime Minister - let them know that the world has changed, and it is time for the dinosaurs to accept that they should be extinct.
Be quick!
