Take big bites

I am reliably informed that I was recently accused of biting off more than I could chew. That gave me something to chew on...but then I realised, it is true. Not only is it true, but I am glad it is true. Taking big bites is much better than never risking breaking a tooth, don't you think? But the accusation also caused me to reflect on the fellowship of women. Yes, you guessed, my accuser is a woman.

Not any woman, but a woman I have called a friend. And then I read an article about women bullying other women at work from the New York Times. The report says that while men are pretty egalitarian about who they choose to bully, women choose women as targets for bullying more than 70 per cent of their bullying time!

Not much fellowship in that, is there?

The article goes on to discuss the reasons for this, and I have my own views which I might share one day.

In the meantime, let me say this - my best friends have mostly been women. And none of them have been perfect.

What's more, I know I'm not perfect. I do take big bites at times - and as a result I have sometimes achieved big things, and other times I haven't. But I am not afraid of my own imperfections, I don't want to be infallible, and I am not afraid of taking risks.

More importantly, I am not afraid of taking big bites.

Why else would I write a blog?
